Oakdale Elementary School

Mission and Description

Description

Oakdale School is one of the three original schools that came together to form District 66, Westside Schools in 1947. Before that time, Oakdale was a community center and one room school house dating to 1869. In 1927, the larger old section was added and Oakdale became a K-8 school. There was a library, primary room and intermediate room. When Omaha moved westward, and the neighborhood grew, the present school was constructed in stages during the 1950s.  The school is now undergoing a complete transformation.  Construction on the new Oakdale Elementary is underway and will be completed during the 2017-2018 school year.  The Oakdale Elementary Swing School is currently located on the site that previously housed the Community Conference Center.

Today, Oakdale has about 300 students in grades K-6. We also have a preschool serving 3 and 4 year olds. Oakdale has a reputation for strong parent and family support, academic standards that are high and students who are respectful, responsible, and help in the community. We have many student programs that help with the promotion of citizenship. These include student council, character education, Junior Achievement, and others. Please check the district web page for up to date data on assessment results. For complete and current demographic information on Oakdale, please visit the state of Nebraska’s Department of Education website.

We invite you to visit anytime. Please join us for our two Community breakfasts on Veteran’s Day and in the spring.
